Hactivism: Anonymous Blog Post 5

I have seen videos of Anonymous for a couple of years now. Honestly, I'm on the fence with their whole mission. I know that they are trying to show the bad sides of law enforcement in this case so that people will get fired up and start bashing police just like they are. In this case, I think it is a little ridiculous seeing how this man supposedly killed a couple innocent people, and for that, I don't believe the person deserves a trial and will probably just be thrown in jail for a long time. Police brutality is something that is obviously blatantly wrong, but if that's what they are going to try to use to clear this guys name, I don't thing they will be successful. Compared to Swartz i'd definitely say that Swartz was more just trying to help people and not cause any trouble, but I feel that Anonymous is trying to do the opposite.

Blog Post 1 (Late)

In my opinion, Swartz was a very smart and intelligent young man. For being so young and being involved in so many huge internet sites and developments, he was really something in the web community. One of the things the article talked about that was interesting to me was that he helped create Creative Commons and RSS. These are huge names that are now being heard in many classrooms across the country and are a great way of sharing information. That being said, I think that Swartz was doing the right thing. The internet is all about sharing information and laws like SOPA seem very unfair and wrong to me. One of the best parts about the internet is how much information you can receive from it whether it is the morning news or blogging.

WiFi for Everyone

In the first Washington Post article, I found it very interesting that this idea is coming into play. I agree that it would lower the costs of a lot of internet and cell phone bills, which obviously all of us would love. The fact that this could expand into bigger markets such as hospitals was very interesting to me too. In my opinion this is a step forward. Making WiFi available for everyone does seem like a good idea to me.

Future of the Computer

In my opinion, I think that eventually the computer will become touch screen, but not for a long time. Right now everyone is going nuts about phones being touch screen and having to have the latest touch screen phone. As for computers, right now I don't see a reason why they would need to make them touchscreen or super high tech. Also, people are starting to see the benefits of tablets as well which is another reason why I think that one day computers will evolve in that way. While I am happy with the way computers are now, one day I expect to see something much crazier than what we have right now.
